Donate a Vehicle, Running or Not
A free and easy process to help hundreds of people with disabilities find a meaningful job, receive affordable homecare and accessible living, gain critical life skills, and become independent.
DELAWARE, OHIO, October 19, 2026 – The Alpha Group has partnered with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services), creating Alpha CARS, to provide a unique way to give. Through Alpha CARS, anyone who has an unwanted vehicle, running or not, can donate it to The Alpha Group. Donations may include cars, trucks, construction or farm equipment, boats, and RVs. All donations will be hauled away on a tow truck at no cost to the donor, and sale or scrap metal proceeds will be sent to The Alpha Group to help fund programs and services for individuals with disabilities in 13 counties in Ohio.
Why Donate Your Unwanted Vehicle:
- Donating is easy and pick-up is free.
- Donating skips the costs and hassles associated with selling a car, like paying for advertising and insurance, or for car repairs to keep your car in running condition while you wait for a buyer.
- Donating avoids the costs associated with keeping a car, such as registration, insurance, car repairs, and more.
- You can free up space at home or on the farm and/or stop paying for extra parking.
- It’s better than a low trade-in offer.
- Vehicle donations are tax-deductible, and you could reduce your taxable income when taxes are itemized.
- Donating to a nonprofit feels good and makes a difference.
Amber Miller, Director of Development and Engagement at The Alpha Group, donated a vehicle through the CARS program and shared, “The process was very easy! After answering our questions, they provided detailed information regarding vehicle pickup,” Miller said. “They asked for confirmation when they arrived, quickly loaded the car and headed out.”
To get started, donors should enter their information at careasy.org/the-alpha-group or call 855-500-7433 seven days a week. An Alpha CARS representative will contact you to coordinate a free, timely pickup. At the time of pick-up, donors will receive an initial donation receipt. A thank you letter on behalf of the receiving nonprofit will be the donor’s final tax document if their vehicle sells for $500 or less.
If the vehicle sells for more than $500 and the donor has provided their tax identification number, Alpha CARS will also mail an IRS Form 1098-C, ‘Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes’, to the donor within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds received from their donation.
Donating an unwanted vehicle is a free and easy process and helps hundreds of people with disabilities find a meaningful job, receive affordable homecare and accessible living, gain critical life skills, and become independent.
