New Retail Bin Store Hires Adults with Disabilities

Shoppers looking for low prices are flocking to the new trend of bargain bin stores. The first of its kind in Delaware, Ohio, is opening this summer with one main goal; employ adults with disabilities.

The Alpha Group, which is a non-profit organization in Central Ohio, provides an array of services such as transportation, supportive living, integrated adult day programs and workforce development. Now, they have created not only a store for their community but a place to employ people to use the skills they have and receive additional on-the-job training.  The Alpha Group believes this will foster independence and empower individuals to meet their goals.

“BINABLE by Alpha marks a significant step forward in our mission to empower individuals through meaningful work and skill development. This social enterprise not only creates pathways to future employment but also fosters community awareness and much-needed cost savings. We’re thrilled to embark on this journey towards a more inclusive and prosperous future,” said Liz Owens, CEO of The Alpha Group

The new store called BINABLE offers a unique shopping experience with overstocked or returned items at unbeatable prices.  Shipments of new products are placed in the bins every week. On Fridays, all items are priced at $14, offering a fantastic selection to choose from. The prices drop every day until Thursday when everything is just $1!

Tim, a new employee of BINABLE shared “I am really looking forward to working with everyone here at Alpha. I’m also excited to be part of this new venture in the community and I’m ready to work!”

The soft opening of BINABLE is Friday, June 21, 2024. Store hours are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. We encourage community members to stop by the store on or after June 21 to help our new team members, like Tim, practice their roles before our Grand Opening Party which is being planned for Friday, July 19.

We invite all media to attend and check out this unique business. All media inquiries, please contact Chelsie Holmes at [email protected] or (614) 843-5582.
